GROOMING

Here at the Handsome Hound Dog Grooming, we believe grooming is a vital part in the health and well-being of your dog.

It keeps your dog’s coat clean and manageable. We use only the best natural grooming products which are kind to your dog’s skin.

Most dogs require grooming every 6-8 weeks.

On arrival at the salon, we will discuss your pet’s grooming requirements, offering both breed standard and bespoke grooming.

We offer the following grooming services:

“Andrew and his team are always so friendly and Herbie always looks very smart”
We have been taking our Westie, Herbie, to The Handsome Hound for some years now. Andrew and his team are always so friendly and Herbie always looks very smart (and smells delicious!) afterwards. Andrew is extremely helpful and accommodating when arranging appointments, booking in future dates and sending a text reminder the day before. I cannot recommend The Handsome Hound more highly.

puppy grooming

It is very important to introduce your puppy to the grooming environment from a very young age.

We suggest bringing your puppy for a ” puppy introduction ” once he/she is clear of vaccinations and has settled into his/ her new home and before they hit their teenage stage at 5-6 months!

Please bear in mind that bringing your puppy to the grooming salon will be a very different experience from bathing your pup at home.

A puppy introduction includes: A puppy bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, hygiene, face and feet trim.

The puppy introduction lasts 45 minutes to 1 hour and the cost is from £40.

“he leaves looking fabulous every time”
Fantastic grooming always and really lovely people. My 7 year old Welsh Terrier adores going to The Handsome Hound and leaves looking fabulous every time.

He has been both hand stripped and clipped by Andrew with equal success. Can highly recommend.

Handstripping

Hand stripping is the process of pulling the dead hair out of the dog’s coat using your fingers or stripping knife. It is recommended for wire-haired dogs such as Border Terriers.

Not all dogs’ coats are suitable for hand-stripping. It is a much longer process and the grooming fees reflect this.

de-matting

Many breeds are prone to matting, particularly poodle mixes. It is essential that your dog’s coat is brushed at home daily as a preventative measure. Please be mindful that a clip down is advised for matted dogs. We operate under the codes of the animal welfare act (https://www.rspca.org.uk/whatwedo/endcruelty/changingthelaw/whatwechanged/animalwelfareact)
